Kate and Jonathan, a young white couple who are looking to adopt a baby

Ready to Adopt

Jamie & Will

Hi and welcome to our page! We’re Jamie & William, from Leander, Texas. We’re decided to grow our family through adoption and we’re grateful you’re taking the time to get to know us.

We’ve been married for 3 years and are each other’s best friends. Jamie works as a pediatric pharmacist and has a big heart for helping others. William is originally from Scotland and brings a wonderful sense of humor and adventure to our life together. We love traveling, trying new foods, and an occasional concert. Our families, both near and far, are a big part of our lives and have been very supportive on our adoption journey. Our Leander home is filled with laughter and love with our cat Rafiki and our dog, Bux.

We understand that this decision you are making is a big decision, and we are humbled that you would consider us in this process. Adoption has always been something we have wanted to purse, we hope that we get to start this process with you.

Things We Can’t Wait to Do as a Family

Read The Harry Potter Series | Eat ice cream from Amy’s Ice Cream | Travel to Scotland | Celebrate Thanksgiving | Cheer on the Austin FC and the Longhorns | Teach him or her how to build Lego sets | Watch The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast | Bake cupcakes | Make a fortress out of bedsheets | Play soccer

Our Pets

We have one dog, Bux, and one cat, Rafiki. Bux is 10 years old and has been with us since he was a puppy. He is so excited to meet new people and loves to play tug-o-war. Rafiki is 3 years old, and we adopted him at 2 years old from our local SPCA. He is a sweet cat that loves dogs, other cats and kids!

Our Extended Family

We have extended family from all over the US and the world. Jamie’s parents live locally in Georgetown and are excited for our adoption journey. Jamie has a sister, Kelly, that lives in California with her husband, Tye and their 5 children. Their oldest just gave birth to their first child, so it is exciting to watch their family grow!

Will has a sister that lives in Paisley, Scotland with her husband, Stevie, and daughter, Sophie. We just celebrated Sophie’s first Disney trip in October, we all had a great time together enjoying the magic of Disney.

How We Met

Like many modern couples, we originally met online. Jamie originally studied pharmacy in San Diego, which was a place that Will was considering living before he moved to Austin. Will is originally from Scotland – where Hogwarts is based – so there enough there for a first conversation! Our first date was dinner and much more conversation, and the rest is history!

Parenting Philosophy

Our goal as parents is to provide a home filled with love, stability, acceptance, and laughter. We believe in being patient, present, and supportive. We want to create an environment where a child feels safe to be themselves. We want to raise a child who is kind, curious and compassionate, and who knows they are loved not just for what they do, but for who they are.

What Adoption Means to Us

Adoption, to us, is about love, connection, and creating a family in a deeply intentional way. We know it begins with courage and love from an expectant parent, and we have so much respect for that. We believe family is built on love and sticking together through the bad times and the good. We’re honored at the thought of sharing our heart and home with a child through adoption.

5 Things About

Jamie

When I grew up I wanted to be a teacher or a doctor. I always wanted to help people. I eventually followed in my Dad’s footsteps to become a Pharmacist.

I am really good at planning and organizing. I make lists, keep track of every birthday and important date, and make sure things actually get done. Will relies on this completely – I’m basically our family’s operations manager.

I am terrible at any competitive sports. Always happy to play for fun, but definitely won’t be the top scorer.

My favorite quote is “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” It’s a reminder that shows up every day in the hospital – everyone deserves compassion, even when we don’t understand their circumstances.

I realized I was no longer cool when my younger cousin asked if I’d heard of some band, and I said “Are they new?” They’d been famous for three years. Also, I now get excited about kitchen appliances. Very excited.

5 Things About

Will

When I grew up I wanted to be a footballer. Unfortunately, I didn’t actually have any talent at playing football, so working with computers was a realistic second choice.

I am really good at making friends across cultures. Through my international meetup groups, our dinner table regularly hosts people from England, Argentina, France, and India. I genuinely love hearing people’s stories and finding common ground.

I am terrible at drawing. I learned pretty early on that I was not destined to be an artist, but I can just about manage a stick figure!

My favorite quote is “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” It’s not possible to go through life without difficult times; what’s important is how we face them, as tomorrow is never guaranteed.

I realized I was no longer cool when I caught myself saying “back in my day” while explaining to a teenager what dial-up internet was. The blank stare I received confirmed I’d crossed over to old-person territory.
