ready to adopt
Lacy & Nate
Family Type: Heterosexual
Married Since: 2022
Live in: North Carolina
Current Children: None
Hoping to Adopt: Newborn-6 months
Hi! We’re Lacy and Nate, plus our goofy golden retriever, Poppy. As you get to know us more through these pages, we hope you can see the love we have for each other, the opportunities and support we hope to provide for a child, and the relationship we hope to have with you.
We’ve been married for 4 ½ years and have known each other for almost 10! We’ve built meaningful careers that allow us to provide a life of stability and opportunity for any child we have the gift of raising, and we have a big, welcoming extended family where we live in North Carolina that can’t wait to embrace another little one.

Our Dog Poppy
We have a three year old golden retriever named Poppy. We both grew up with golden retrievers and love how amazing they are around children – Poppy is a big fan of all of our friends’ kids, who love playing with her and always request to say hello to her on facetime! Poppy is the best snuggler – she loves to curl up on our legs and rest her head on our knees. She especially loves to play fetch, preferably if you are throwing the ball into a lake or a pile of leaves! She’s a goofy, fluffy ball of energy and joy.

What Adoption Means to Us
We don’t believe that adoption ends after placement – your child will always know how loved they are by you and by us, and we will always talk about their adoption story with honesty and care.
We know we don’t know you yet, but we already see you as a part of our family. Our hope is to support, love, and walk alongside you in this adoption process, and in life. We’re here to walk with you in the hard parts and the beautiful parts. That is what we will promise your child, too, if we are chosen to parent. We will be there in the ups and downs of life, always providing a safe place for your child to learn, grow, and be loved unconditionally. That is what our parents, friends, and families have provided for us, and we can’t wait for the opportunity to do the same.

Nate's Family
Though Nate’s parents live across the country, we stay in touch through regular FaceTime calls and a family group text. Since Paul and Jean are retired, they have a lot of flexibility to travel to visit us, which they do several times a year. They are especially helpful with home projects, as Paul loves woodworking. They are so excited to welcome a grandchild, especially since this will be the first grandchild on Nate’s side!

Our Home
We live in a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom ranch-style home. We love our place! It reminds Lacy of the home she grew up in. We have a big, fenced backyard with a swing set and slide and plenty of room to play in the backyard. We also have a screened-in porch that is great for meals and relaxing in the morning or the evening.
We love spending time in the family room, which has a fireplace and looks out over the screened porch and the backyard. On a summer night, we leave the porch door and windows open and let Poppy run around while Lacy cooks some sides and Nate grills. Our house fits us perfectly for this season of life, but we also bought it because the lot is big enough to add onto the house in the future. Our neighborhood is full of young families and kids, and we can’t wait for our future child to have lots of neighborhood friends!

How We'll Raise Our Child
We hope that our kids can always say “I can talk to mom and dad about that!” We want to be their safe place – where they can go when they are so excited and can’t wait to share something amazing, or when they are struggling, confused, or made a mistake. We will always be there to celebrate with them, to guide them, to challenge them in healthy ways, and to love them unconditionally with everything we have. We want their childhood to be full of fun, magic, learning, and growth – we can’t wait to create special Christmas mornings, family traditions, beach trips with cousins, and ordinary mornings around the breakfast table.

Lacy's Family
Lacy’s parents are Kelli and John – or Gertie and Grandaddy, if you want to use their grandparent names! They live 10 minutes away from us in the house that Lacy and her sister, Annie, grew up in. Annie, her husband Austin, and their 18-month old son, Charles, live 90 minutes away. Lacy’s grandmother, Gram, also lives 10 minutes away from us!
Lacy grew up very close to her cousins, and large extended family gatherings (now 30+ people!) are still a regular part of our lives. Whether we are gathering to celebrate a baptism, wedding, or birthday, the cousin crew always brings the fun! Lacy’s extended family is especially known for re-writing song lyrics to fit the special occasion and having a family performance. There are already 10 children among all of Lacy’s cousins, with more on the way – a big, excited crew that is so ready to welcome more cousins, and to welcome you.
