Ready to Adopt
Nicki & Sam
Hi, we’re Nicki, Sam, and Ruby. Thank you for taking the time to read about us and the home we hope to offer your child. We live in the Kansas City metro area with our 5-year-old daughter, Ruby, and our 13-year-old cat, Macy. We’ve been together for seven years, and we’re excited to grow our family. Ruby is over the moon about becoming a big sister.
We understand this may be a difficult time for you. Whatever you decide, we want you to know we support you and your choice for both you and your child. If you choose us, please know we are committed to walking this journey with you. Whether that means sharing photos, updates, or building an ongoing relationship, we would be honored to stay connected in whatever way feels right to you.
Things We Can’t Wait to Do as a Family
Read Good Night Moon | Eat tacos together | Travel to the mountains and the beach | Celebrate the holidays | Cheer on the Royals | Sing Silent Night and Twinkle Little Star at bedtime | Watch Star Wars as a family | Bake cookies and brownies | Make holiday crafts to decorate the house | Spend days at the pool

Our Daughter
Ruby is our bubbly energetic 5 year old daughter who is constantly looking for her next adventure. She has asked for a sibling for years, and she simply can’t wait for it to happen.

Our Pet
Macy is our 13-year-old cat, and she has (somewhat reluctantly) accepted a loud 5-year-old into her home. She especially loves quiet moments curled up under the Christmas tree.

Our Home
Our neighborhood feels like it’s tucked away in the country but we’re minutes from stores, libraries, and town. Out our front door is an open field with beautiful sunsets, just to the left is a tree farm, and we have our own sledding hills which are hours of fun in the winter.
Our neighborhood is big on celebrating just about everything. For example, we have our own Easter Egg Hunt each year in the neighborhood green space where kids can love on the sweetest baby chicks and bunnies while dashing about to find candy filled eggs. The green space also has a stage for bands, potlucks, and holiday gatherings, and serves for plenty of imaginary play for the neighborhood kids. It is filled with young children which is ideal for our family. We love evening walks around the neighborhood, while Ruby zips around on her scooter or bike leaving us in her dust. We picked this neighborhood, because it would be idyllic for our children and everything it could offer them.

Our Extended Family
Our extended family means the world to us. Both sides make a real effort to gather everyone, often from across the country, a couple of times each year. Even though we’re spread across eight states, we always find a way to come together.

Our Adventures
Whether it’s a trip to the mountains, a flight to the beach, or a road trip to see the baby Clydesdales, we believe travel matters. Experiencing new places and meeting new people pushes us beyond our bubble and reminds us how much more there is to the world. Every place and every person has a story worth discovering.
