Kate and Jonathan, a young white couple who are looking to adopt a baby

Ready to Adopt

Kate & Jonathan

Hello to You! We’re Kate and Jonathan, we have 2 cats, Baxter and Rumpus, who are brothers. We live in the Chicago area in an extremely diverse community with excellent schools and beautiful parks. We’ve been together for 14 years and have been married for 8!

Jonathan grew up in Memphis, TN, and works in IT. Kate grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and works as a Medical Scientist. We love art, dance, movies and game shows, cooking, travel, and hiking.

We value honesty, kindness, and empathy in our relationships. We laugh a lot in our house. We crack each other up with terrible puns, dad jokes, and hilarious social media posts that we save to show each other before bed.

The decision you are in the process of making is huge, and we hope that no matter what you decide, it brings you peace. It would be a dream come true for us to welcome your child into our home and our hearts.

We would love for you to be present in your child’s life as they grow if that is something that you want too. We want you to know you will be able to count on us to be respectful, welcoming, and always open to you on this journey.

Things We Can’t Wait to Do as a Family

Play Lego and Connect 4 | Read Where the Wild Things Are | Eat pizza in Chicago and BBQ in Memphis (and Texas!) | Travel the world | Visit the Brookfield Zoo, Navy Pier Children’s Museum | Teach them how to ride a bike and tie their shoe laces | Celebrate Christmas and birthdays | Sing The Alphabet Song | Watch Sesame Street | Build a snowman and drink hot chocolate together

Our Pets

We have brother cats: Baxter and Rumpus. They are 3 years old and are super sweet and playful. Rumpus loves to play with his toys and chase treats. Baxter is an intrepid explorer but his favorite place is napping in our bed. They are both incredibly affectionate and love people.

Our Home

Our home is a 3-bedroom single family home in the suburbs of Chicago. We have a backyard where we plan on growing vegetables and would love to put in a swing set. We are surrounded by parks and walking trails. There are great schools in our area, an excellent library and lots of shops and cafes.

Since we’re so close to Chicago, we have endless access to all types of food, concerts, museums, and cultural events.

Our Hobbies

Jon loves playing guitar and Kate loves dancing. We both love yoga and hiking. We want to visit the Grand Canyon since that’s such a classic throwback family vacation! We love to travel both inside the USA as well as overseas. We cook, do home improvement projects, have game nights with our neighbors, and we’re on a quest to find the absolute best pizza delivery place in our neighborhood.

Parenting Philosophy

This child is going to learn, discover, and grow at their own pace. We’re here to let them do that, to encourage them when they need it, and to comfort them when they want comfort and reassurance. We will ensure they have whatever they need to grow up and become a strong, honest, kind adult person.

As parents, it’s part of the job description to be advocates for your child through whatever struggles they may have. We will always love and champion them for being exactly who they are.

What Adoption Means to Us

We always envisioned our home with children in it and adoption seemed like one of the most beautiful ways to grow a family. After struggles with infertility, we knew that adoption was the way forward for us. We would be so excited to welcome your baby into our lives!

We embrace the idea of open adoption. We want to give your child everything we can, and that includes the opportunity to know you and their birth family and understand their roots.
