The NY Times posted an enthralling account of a birth mother’s story of her decision to place her son for adoption and the beautiful and painful moments that are naturally intertwined in open adoption.  Her raw honesty is a reminder of what is actually endured by the loving mother who chooses a path for her child that she cannot provide.  The adoptive parent is what many of us find in our selves or future selves – a grateful adoptive parent who can also feel sidelined by the emotions and loss they know the birth parent is experiencing.  The beauty is always evident in the happiness of a child who feels loved, connected and congruent with themselves and those involved in their life.
