Kim and Steph have recently welcomed a new baby into their home and are no longer available to be matched with. VIEW OTHER FAMILIES THAT ARE CURRENTLY WAITING.

We are so humbled that you would consider us to parent your child, and awed by the strength it takes to make a plan to place a child for adoption. We know that your journey has not been easy, and we already have so much gratitude and respect for you. We promise you that your child will enter a happy home, and that we will be open, inclusive and loving participants in our new, bigger family, which includes you! Thank you for taking time to get to know our family. We wish you love, joy, and peace on your journey.

Who We Are

More About Kim

When I grew up I wanted to be a lion tamer.

I am really good at loving people, faults and all.

My favorite quote is:

“Show up. Pay attention Tell the truth with love and compassion, and don’t be attached to the results.”

I realized I was no longer cool when I got a mom car with my Violette’s school bumper sticker.

More About Steph

When I grew up I wanted to be a fireman.

I am really good at connecting people.

I am terrible at saying goodbye.

My most embarrassing moment as a parent has been:

Not realizing I had to wipe after Violette was potty trained

My favorite quote is:

“Action precedes motivation.” “Love conquers all.”

I realized I was no longer cool when I thought all the restaurants in town were going out of business because no one else was there at 5 pm. It was just that we were early!.

We can’t wait to…

We live on a lovely piece of land in East Austin that we farm and open to the public and the theater community, 5 minutes from downtown Austin. We love our fresh eggs, veggies, and fruit trees, and being so close to the hike and bike trail. It’s our own little Eden! We live in a sweet, brick house in East Austin. We are hoping to add on and put in a pool soon. We have lots of outdoor space to run and play, under shady trees. We have a tree house and a play house, and a new trampoline. Our kitchen is big, and full of lots of healthy, good cooking.

We enjoy being outside, and love to hike the many parks around Austin with Redd and Violette. We also do fun projects around our farm, like harvesting and pickling olives, and hatching baby chicks. We are big gardeners, cooks and bakers too.

Parenting Philosophy

We believe that our job is to help our kids be who they are, within some loving boundaries. We practice conscious parenting, which means we treat our daughter with the same respect and love that we try to treat ourselves and each other with. We believe kids are entitled their feelings about life. Holding in feelings, whether young or old, teaches us to ignore our inner compass so we practice a lot ’stay listening’ where we provide a safe place for Violette to feel her emotions (as long as she and we are safe). We provide a lot of playful instruction to make necessary tasks easier (because we all have to get dressed =) and pitch in with house chores), and often provide choices so Violette feels a part of the decisions in her life. We don’t hesitate to allow natural consequences for actions, and to remove privileges as well. We believe in leading by example rather than authoritative dominance, and remember to keep our own cups full so, we can be the best, most patient parents we can be!

Our Extended Family

Our daughter has 2 sets of grandparents, one aunt and 2 uncles, and we have a really close network of friends that are like family. We also have a large extended family so, there will be lots of cousins to play with. We have two family reunions each year - one at Christmas and one in the summer where everybody camps by the Blanco River. The summer reunion usually has over 100 people in attendance!

What Adoption Means to Us

We want to adopt because we feel that our family isn’t complete yet, and we are very open to how our family expands. We also don’t believe that having another biological child is the best, most healthy choice for us, due to the fact that Kim was very sick with her pregnancy. We have more than enough love for more children in our family, and are very excited to meet whoever is coming!
