Placing a Baby for Adoption in Amarillo
Our adoption process starts with a discussion of your options and what open adoption is like. Then, you’ll work with an adoption counselor to make an adoption plan, which includes choosing an adoptive family and determining how much openness you want in your adoption. After delivering your baby, you’ll meet with your counselor again to share whether you want to move forward with the adoption. If so, you can sign the relinquishment paperwork and your newborn will go home with his adoptive family. Throughout the process, and for as long as you need afterwards, your adoption counselor will be there to provide counseling and emotional support.
Meet Our Amarillo Adoption Counselor
Amarillo Adoptions Coordinator Holly serves as AAI consultant for expectant parents and adoptive parents in the Texas Panhandle. As the Amarillo Adoptions Coordinator, Holly provides assistance to both expectant parents and adoptive parents with all aspects of adoption planning. She provides education about the adoption process and open adoption, assists with hospital planning, conducts counseling before and after placement, hospital support services and post-adoption counseling. Holly can also assist with Medicaid applications, referrals to physicians and other community resources. Holly comes to Adoption Advocates with more than 20 years of experience in the adoption field. In addition to serving as Amarillo Adoptions Coordinator, Holly also teaches Intro to Social Work at Amarillo College, and works part time as a Behavioral Health Counselor at a local Amarillo behavioral health hospital.

I was afraid that because I couldn’t go into the office, the agency wouldn’t really know me. One of the things I liked most about Adoption Advocates was the birth mother counseling services. Because I was so far away, I wasn’t sure how this would work out. Fortunately, AAI really cares about birth mothers. Before I even met with a counselor in person, I was able to e-mail her 24/7. I talked to her about everything, and she always responded. Eventually I was set up with a counselor in Amarillo. She was an amazing help, and even went to the hospital with me. I still see her today. It’s funny to think back to my initial anxieties. The agency may have been hundreds of miles away, but they were able to give me so much support that it felt like they were here.”
