Nonprofits We Love – And Why We Think They’re Awesome

August 17, 2023

It’s National Nonprofit Day! In honor of this day, we want to share some of our favorite nonprofits and highlight the amazing work they do to support pregnant women and new parents.

While these nonprofits are all located in and provided services for our hometown of Austin, we work with clients and many other nonprofits all across Texas. If you are a nonprofit and would like to partner with us, please reach out!

SAFE Alliance

The safety and wellbeing of our clients and their children are one of our top concerns. Unfortunately, some of pregnant women we work with choose adoption because their pregnancy is the result of a rape or they are trying to escape an abusive situation. SAFE Alliance’s services – like emergency housing, crisis intervention, counseling and victim advocacy – fill a critical role in helping protect women, and allow them to heal and move forward. Learn more: safeaustin.org/

Austin Diaper Bank

One of the biggest concerns from women experiencing unplanned pregnancies is how they’ll afford baby supplies if they want to parent. Luckily, we have the Austin Diaper Bank. The Austin Diaper Bank partners with more than 35 local organizations to make diapers available for parents in need. Learn more: austindiapers.org/

Jeremiah Program

Jeremiah Program offers a comprehensive plan for single moms to create a better future for themselves and their children. With housing, child care and support all available at no cost, moms can focus on achieving their education and career goals, and disrupt the cycle of poverty. Learn more: jeremiahprogram.org/

Planned Parenthood

Making choices about an unplanned pregnancy is difficult, and we encourage women to be proactive in preventing that situation. Planned Parenthood helps women access contraceptives with their low-cost women’s health services. Their affordable care also helps women protect their reproductive health for when the right time to have a baby does come. Learn more: plannedparenthood.org/

Any Baby Can

Adoption isn’t the right choice for every pregnant woman who reaches out to us. Some just need a little extra support to be able to parent their child. From childbirth classes to counseling to family support services, this local nonprofit offers Austin mothers and fathers not only the chance to be parents, but to excel at it. Learn more: anybabycan.org/

The Source

The Source has helped many of our clients confirm their pregnancies with their free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, but their work doesn’t stop there. They can also assist with applying for Pregnancy Medicaid, counseling, parenting classes and more. They have clinics in both Austin and Houston as well as offering virtual care services. Learn more: thesource.org/

Annunciation Maternity Home

Annunciation Maternity Home provides more than just a safe place to live during a crisis pregnancy. They can help with access to medical care, your education, childcare, mental health counseling and transitioning into the next phase of your life. Learn more: thematernityhome.org/
