Neil and Bo, a gay couple looking to adopt a baby in Texas.

Neil & Bo

Hi there! We are Neil and Bo, and we’re so glad that you’re taking a look at our profile. We are both so excited to grow our family through adoption!

We are best friends, husbands, and each other’s champions. Bo grew up in a small town in West Texas, and Neil was born and raised in Scotland (he has an accent!). We met in Houston during the summer of 2015 and very quickly knew that we had something special. Our marriage is a loving partnership, based on our mutually-held ideals of honesty, trust, equality, and lifelong learning.

We became dads together at the end of 2020, when our son, Rory, was placed with us through adoption. We truly love being dads — it’s our favorite part of our identities.

Having been married for five years and settled into our home, careers, and roles as fathers, we feel we have a strong, stable foundation from which to add to our family. We love being dads, and we believe that we have a lot more love, time, and energy to give to another child.

Things We Can’t Wait to Do as a Family

Play toy parade | Read Room on the Broom | Eat homemade pancakes | Travel to Scotland for Christmas | Celebrate “Hogmanay” (a.k.a. New Year’s Eve in Scotland) | Sing musicals | Watch Peppa Pig | Teach him or her how to multiply fractions | Bake shortbread | Make blanket forts

Our Son

Our son Rory was born in December 2020, and our lives were forever changed. Rory is so much fun, and he cannot wait to become a big brother!

Rory loves to play with blocks and trucks, read books, and help cook and bake. He has bright red hair and is full of personality.

We adopted Rory, and we have an open relationship with his birth family. We are in regular communication, and we see them multiple times a year.

OUR HOME

We live in a suburb of Houston with lots of trees, walking trails, and parks to explore. The area has excellent schools and lots of young families — we love playing with new friends at nearby playgrounds! We feel grateful to live in a family-friendly community with beautiful, natural surroundings.”

OUR EXTENDED FAMILY

We both feel very fortunate to have such loving, close, supportive families. Bo’s parents and sister live near us in Houston, his brother lives in West Texas, and Neil’s family lives in Scotland.

Our families love each other! This past summer, we took Rory to visit Neil’s family in Scotland for the first time, and Bo’s extended family came along too for a fun reunion.

Our Cat

We have one cat named Eleanor that we rescued in early 2019.  She is super sweet and is great with kids! She welcomes every new guest to our home sitting patiently at the front door.

WHAT ADOPTION MEANS TO US

As a gay couple, we have always wanted to grow our family through adoption. We are so excited to welcome another child into our lives. Close family ties are very important to us, and we feel we are bursting at the seams with love to shower on a future child. We plan to always be open and honest with our child and encourage them to be kind, vulnerable, and curious about the world. We will teach our child to celebrate themselves and their adoption story.
