Hi, we’re Jenny and Conan! Thank you for taking a look at our page! We live in Austin, Texas and are excited to have the opportunity to expand our family through adoption. We know this is a big decision for you, and support you in making whatever will be the best decision for you and your baby. When we got married, something we said in our wedding vows was that there’s no team better than Team Conan and Jenny, and we sealed it with a high five. That feeling of fun and togetherness remains at the heart of our marriage and is stronger than ever. Now we’re looking forward to adding a new child to our team! We’re playful, kind, silly, loving, and lifelong learners.

Our Pets

We have three cats, each with their own charming personality: Gmork is fluffy, soft, and always loves to cuddle. Ruby is sassy, sneaky, and loving when she’s not trying to steal food off our plates. Lars is the youngest and is a lightning bolt of energy and playfulness dashing around the house.

We also love dogs but don’t have one at the moment. Our previous dog was a wonderfully sweet boxer named Frankie, who we miss very much.

OUR HOME

Our house is a four-bedroom two story house. We’re not overly fancy people. We can cook but we’re not great chefs. Our house is comfortable but it’s meant to be lived in and enjoyed. We’ve got room for fun and games in our back and front yards, and we live on a safe cul de sac street.

The thing in our house we’re most proud of is a mural we made out of Legos featuring tons of 8-bit Nintendo video game characters. It took us over 5 years to design it, accumulate all the Legos we needed, and build it.

Our local elementary school is two blocks away, and there’s also a nice public park with a big pool in our neighborhood.

OUR HOBBIES

Several years ago we joined a social sports league for bocce ball. Bocce is a lawn bowling game where you throw four balls and try to get close to a small ball called a pallina. We always have fun playing, and have made a ton of lifelong friends out of that group. We frequently get together with those same people for non-bocce activities like house parties and playing board games. We even took a trip to Vegas together.

At home, when we want a quiet night in or a lazy Sunday afternoon, you’ll usually find us playing video games or reading. Both of us started playing Nintendo games when we were kids, and we still have plenty of fun gaming as adults. Zelda, Final Fantasy, Skyrim, and Elden Ring are some of our favorites.

We also like to learn new things. Recently Jenny has been using Duolingo to learn German, and Conan has been using it to learn Spanish.

Parenting Philosophy

We want to raise our child to treat others with respect, show kindness, and be honest and reliable. We want to encourage them to grow and pursue the interests and activities that most appeal to them. We want to strike a good balance between making decisions that are best for our child and allowing them the age-appropriate independence and responsibility to make those decisions themselves.

We value education highly. We will make sure our child gets a great education and has all options available as they grow up. There is more to education than just academics, and we will expose our child to a variety of experiences and people to help them be well-rounded and capable of handling all of life’s challenges.

How We Met

Our first date happened by accident and wasn’t planned to be a date. Jenny’s sister had a boyfriend who was a bartender and wanted to check out places where he might try getting a job. He invited several friends out to join them while they visited each of those places to see what they were like.

By coincidence, Conan and Jenny were the only two people who were able to join Jenny’s sister and her boyfriend for that night, so it turned into an accidental double date.

Conan was smitten with Jenny after that first night, and invited her out soon after for a “real” date. At first, Jenny didn’t realize Conan was asking her out, and thought he was inviting her out as a friend. Conan was able to win her over, and we began our history together!

5 Things About

Jenny

I have a stupid human trick I call “mouth talking”: I can say words while keeping my lips closed, and you can still tell what I’m saying!

I love all animals and especially cats. I’ve volunteered with cat shelters and helped foster cats that needed a temporary home.

In college I was the lab manager for a biology lab overseeing dozens of frogs called tungara frogs. I spent a summer working at a research lab in Panama studying those frogs.

I went through a phase (about 20 years) where I was really into Flaming Hot Cheetos. If you look back at some of the books I was reading over the years, you can see orangey-red cheetle stains here and there on the pages. Cheetle is what I call the Cheeto dust. I still like them but not as much as I used to. (Only because I’m older now and my stomach can’t handle it like it used to, not because they aren’t still the best snack known to humankind.)

I enjoy birding—exploring nature and spotting and identifying birds. I have over 200 species on my life list—the list of the different birds I’ve identified.

5 Things About

Conan

I once completed an 18,000 piece jigsaw puzzle.

I was valedictorian of my high school and had a perfect score on the SAT.

I had a lot of pets at different times when I was kid: three dogs, two finches, a barking tree frog, two rats, and a snake.

I’m a mediocre singer, but I enjoy doing karaoke with friends. Two of my go-to karaoke songs are Sloop John B by the Beach Boys and Wind of Change by the Scorpions.

My career is in the comic book business. When Jenny and I got married, we spent part of our honeymoon attending the San Diego Comic Con and ran into Stan Lee, famous creator of many Marvel superheroes like Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, and the Hulk.
