Our Family

Our family is a mix of everything – support, laughter, a bit of craziness, and a whole lot of fun. Nana and Grandpa reside in Leander, TX, counting down the days until they’ve got another little one to chase around the house. Mimi and Pops, well, they’re all about the sleepovers and pool parties down in San Antonio! Both sets of grandparents are up for anything, especially when it comes to playing games with the kids. And then there’s your uncles – one up in Maine, excited to show off his love for wildlife and fly-fishing, and the other down in Mexico, just waiting to race around the beach with Melody and her little sibling. Throw in some rowdy cousins, a bunch of grand aunts and uncles, and even some great-grandparents, and you’ve got one big, loud, loving crew.

Melody

Q: What’s your name? A: Melly
Q: How old are you? A: Showed us two fingers, told us she is four LOL she is 3.
Q: Do you want a baby brother or sister? A: Baby Siiisssster
Q: What’s your favorite animal? A: Lion
Q: Do you like to share your toys? A: Nnooo (insert mischievous face)
Q: Who is your best friend? A: Andi!!!

Our bio-babe is a bundle of adventure, humor, and unwavering independence. She’s a natural nurturer, caring for her baby dolls with ease and eagerly awaiting the arrival of a little brother or sister. You’ll often find her fearlessly scaling anything in sight, belting out her favorite tunes, and inventing imaginative scenarios. We embrace each day, celebrating her strengths and weaknesses as opportunities to cherish all that she is and will become.

Our Home

Our home is a whirlwind of laughter, love, and a touch of chaos, especially when we’re having impromptu dance parties with Melody. Our favorite part of our house is our backyard. We’ve poured our hearts into making it the ultimate play space, and we’re super excited about adding a baby swing soon!

When we found this two-story home, we knew it was perfect for us. With a game room upstairs, we’re dreaming of the day when our house is filled with teens lounging around and having a blast.

We also have wonderful neighbors on each side that are more like family now. With all three houses having toddlers, we’re always outside, enjoying each other’s company.

We also frequent our community pool to escape from the workday craze. We genuinely love our home and the support that is our community.

Why Adoption

Adoption holds a special place in our hearts— as it’s woven into the fabric of both our family stories. After navigating a challenging birthing journey with Melody that left Laura unable to conceive again, we realized that our longing to grow our family transcends biological ties. We are drawn to the concept of an open adoption, where the birth family seamlessly integrates into our extended family circle. Our hope is for our future child to comprehend their roots and to be enveloped in love and support from all directions. It’s a journey where we not only welcome a new individual but also embrace their culture, heritage, and traditions wholeheartedly.

Parenting Philosophy

We are firm believers in parenting with patience, humor, and a dedication to open communication, which is why we’re wholeheartedly embracing the idea of an open adoption. For us, family goes beyond the walls of our home; it’s about inclusivity, trust, and mutual respect.

We believe parenting is also about having fun and letting kids truly be kids. Melody has been our greatest teacher in that regard, showing us the pure joy of play and discovery. Melody finds delight in the smallest things, and we make it a point to join in on her adventures. Our children have so much to teach us, and this shift in our parenting journey has been a beautiful opportunity for growth and connection.
